Writing this blog was real fun, but, unfortunately, I don’t think you will be able to enjoy any further posts into it. Still, I need to give you this week’s amazing fact and here it is:

The King of Pop Music – Michael Jackson – left us yesterday at the age of 50.

The American Super Star was born in Gary, Indiana in 1958 and has been entertaining millions of devoted fans nearly his entire life. Starting with the family band – “The Jackson 5″ at the age of 7, soon his genius singing and dancing abilities made him the dominant figure and he started his solo career in the beginning of the 1970s with the single “Got to be there”.

A Musical Prodigy, Michael Jackson was on the top of his fame during the 80s and 90s . His solo album ” Thriller” (1982) became the best-selling album of all times.

No words can describe the terrible loss of such an incredible artist and man.

The world will never be the same without you. Rest In Peace, Jacko!

We were all brought up with the idea that LAW is above us all and that we must abide it. Sometimes laws may sound reeeeally wierd and even dump. Nevertheless, you should take it into consideration unless you find the area behind the bars an extremely cosy place

Honestly, I had a great time while researching the topic and here are some of my findings (of course there are many more amazing laws in different countries’ legislation, but these ones I find properly dump) :

ENGLAND

Exept carrots, most of the goods may not be sold on Sunday.

It is illegal to be drunk in Licensed Premises (pubs or bars)

A boy under the age of 10 may not see a naked manneqiun.

A bed may not be hung out of the window.

No cows may be driven down the roadway between 10AM and 7PM unless there is a prior approval from the Commissioner of Police.

SCOTLAND

It is illegal to be drunk while in possession of a cow.

If somebody knocks on your door and asks to use your residence, you must let them in.

No fishing on Sundyas.

FRANCE

Kissing on railways is illegal.

In the timeframe between 8:oo and 20:00 70% of the music on the radio must be by French composers.

No pig may be addressed as Napoleon by it’s owner.

An ashtray is considered to be a deadly weapon.

ITALY

A man, who is wearing a skirt, may be arrested.

Striking someone with a fist is treated as felony.

GERMANY

It is illegal for ones car to run out of gas on a highway.

A pillow may be considered a ‘passive’ weapon.

Wearing mask on a strike is against the law.

Every office must have a view on the sky, however small.

SWITZERLAND (particularly amazing)

If you forget your car-keys in the car and leave it open, you may be punished.

It is illegal to hang you clothes to dry and to wash your car on Sundays.

It is illegal to flush the toilet after 10PM! ! !

GREECE

All electronic games are banned.

SWEDEN

You may only own half a meter down in the ground of any land you own.

It is illegal to repaint your house without a painting license and permission from the government.

So… this is the case in Europe.

BULGARIAN
Yeap, fellows, don’t look so suspiciously. This is the truth itself.

His name is John Atanasoff. His father, Ivan Atanasoff, was born in a small Bulgarian village (which I have never been to ) called Boyadjik and emigrated to the United States when he was 13 years old.
John was born in Hamilton, New York on October 4, 1903 and since he was a child he was particularly keen on Mathematics and Science. In 1926 he graduated from the Iowa State College with Master of Science in mathematics.
The work on his doctoral thesis, “The Dielectric Constant of Helium,” gave Atanasoff his first experience in serious computing. He spent hours on a Monroe calculator, one of the most advanced calculating machines of the time. During the hard weeks of calculations to complete his thesis Atanasoff acquired an interest in developing a better and faster computing machine. After receiving his Ph.D. in theoretical physics in July 1930, he returned to Iowa State College with a determination to try to create a faster, better computing machine.
With his academic background, Atanasoff felt he was well equipped to try to figure out how to develop a way of doing the complicated math problems he had encounted during his doctoral thesis, in a faster, more efficient way.
The obsession of finding a solution to the computer problem had built to a frenzy in the winter months of 1937. One night, frustrated after many discouraging events, he got into his car and started driving without destination. Two hundred miles later, he pulled onto a roadhouse in the state of Illinois. Here, he had a drink of bourbon and continued thinking about the creation of the machine. No longer nervous and tense, he realized that this thoughts were coming together clearly. He began generating ideas on how to build this computer! After receiving a grant of $650 from Iowa State College in March 1939, Atanasoff was ready to embark in this exciting adventure. To help him accomplish his goal, he hired a particularly bright electrical engineering student, Clifford E. Berry. From 1939 until 1941they worked at developing and improving the ABC, Atanasoff-Berry Computer, as it was later named. When World War II started on 7 December 1941, the work on the computer came to a halt. Although Iowa State College had hired a Chicago patent lawyer, Richard R. Trexler, the patenting of the ABC was never completed.

In this week’s post I decided to give the deserved to the creatures which do not have the ability themselves to draw our attention…. simply because the can’t speak. The animal world is full of secrets and surprises, which I am sure most of you are not familiar with. Here are some truths about animals that I find interesting (hopefully, you too):

1. Dolphins sleep with one eye open

2. Crocodiles are blind in the water but very keen of sight in the air.

3. Crocodiles are color-blind.

4. Owls are the only bird that can see the color blue.

5. Unlike all other insects, flies have five eyes. They have two large eyes and three smaller eyes between them.

6. Snails have four noses.

7. Giraffes have no vocal chords

8. The tongues of chameleons are as long as it’s body or even longer. Some chameleon types have a tongue longer than two times of it’s body. 9. The tongues of chameleons are faster than a fighter jet.

10. The eyes of ostrich’s are bigger than their brains.

11. An ant can lift fifty times of it’s own weight

12. A cockroach can survive without it’s head for nine days. At the end of nine day, it dies because of hunger.

13. A tarantula can survive for more than two years without food.

This was one of the candidates for fame in the world-wide famous live show “Music Idol” in the year 2007 (as far as I can remember). All other explanations are of no use here.

Lina Medina (born September 27, 1933 in Paurange in Peru) gave birth at the age of 5 years(!!!), 7 months and 21 days and is the youngest confirmed mother in history.

Lina’s parents brought her to the hospital because of they thought she had a tumor, but there it was quickly clear that she was pregnant. One month later, at May 14 1939, her son was born by a caesarean section necessitated by her small pelvis.
Her son weighed 2.7 kg at birth and was named Gerardo after her doctor. Gerardo was raised believing that Lina was his sister, but found out at the age of ten that she was his mother. He grew up healthy but died in 1979 at the age of 40 of a disease of the bone marrow.

The task to find out how she got pregnant I am leaving to you, guys

Due to the high interest on my last question I would like tell you what I myself know about it:
The biological father of the little Gerardo was never determined and Lina Melina herself never gave an answer to the doctors of how she got pregnant.
Actually, Lina’s father was jailed for a short period of time, accused of incest and rape, but was soon let go due to lack of evidence.

A huge rock in a village of Al-Hassa region, SAUDI ARABIA raises 11 cms from the ground level once in a year during the month of April and stays elevated for about 30 minutes!!! They say that 17 years ago, one Mujahid was shot dead behind this rock as he was hidden there. This encounter happened in the month of April 1989. You can see the fresh blood stains on the rock. Most surprisingly, when the rock raises from the ground, these stains become darker, fresher and wet. Local residents tried to wipe off the stains several times, but after some time it appears again on the rock automatically… Isn’t it astounding? Have a look…

The longest geographical name that is accepted in the world is “Taumatawhakatangihangak oauauotamateaturipukaka pikimaungahoronukupokaiwhe nua kitanatahu” (85 letters) which is a hill in New Zealand – it is a maori phrase which translates to “place where Tamatea, the man with the big knees, who slid, climbed and swallowed mountains, known as land-eater, played his flute to his loved one”. It was, in fact, the longest until recently (though the Guinness Book of Records still regards it as the longest); it has most likely now been supplanted by Krung thep maha nakorn amorn ratana kosinmahintar ayutthay amaha dilok phop noppa ratrajathani burirom udom rajaniwesmahasat harn amorn phimarn avatarn sathit sakkattiya visanukamprasit in Thailand (163 letters).
